22 The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.
You Are Filled with the Holy Spirit
I was meditating on the verse for a while. Like why would the KJV translation use the word “desolate” and not “cursed”.
Then today, as I was reading the same passage again, the Lord showed what the verse was saying. It’s talking about salvation. And David was prophesying about our generation—the generation after Jesus’ finished work on the cross.
Because as Pastor Prince has mentioned, there were no Christians before Jesus died. No believers in the Old Testament. All the Bible heroes of old were not saved—they always called themselves “servants” of God, not “sons”.
So, before anyone accepts Christ as their Saviour, they are “desolate”—means empty—dead. BUT! In the same verse, it says that the Lord redeems the souls of his servants. So I daresay that all the Bible heroes of old like Abraham and David were redeemed when Jesus died and rose again from the grave.
Then, the verse goes on to say that “none of them that trust in him shall be desolate” meaning that once someone puts their trust in the Lord Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes to live in them and they are no longer “desolate”.
Yea, so let’s keep praying and trusting for the salvation of all our loved ones, amen!
The child whom Jesus loves signing off, bye! 👋
